Registered Dental Hygienist
A dental hygienist for Family & Cosmetic Dental Care, Megan Izutani has worked in the dental field since 2005. She began her career as a dental assistant and worked her way up to the position of dental hygienist, giving her the opportunity to interact with and treat patients in a more hands-on way.
Megan wholly embraces Family & Cosmetic Dental Care’s goal to educate patients about the importance of their oral health, and takes her roles as patient educator and dental professional seriously. With each patient interaction, Megan discusses or demonstrates ways to naturally keep teeth and gums healthy. “I absolutely love what I do. It is my passion to educate and help every patient live the best and most healthy life they can. Your mouth must be healthy for your body to be healthy,” Megan says.
This Johns Creek dental office is, in fact, all about education. “You will walk out of our office with the knowledge you need to make an informed decision,” says Megan, whether you’re considering cosmetic dentistry procedures, restorative dentistry treatments, or adult orthodontics. Registered Dental Hygienist
“We have your best interests at heart,” says Jackie Bascino, registered dental hygienist for Family & Cosmetic Dental Care in Johns Creek. This positive attitude about oral health should make any patient feel at ease when they visit our practice for a teeth cleaning and are under Jackie’s meticulous care.
Dental hygienists play a critical role in a dental office. “I help patients understand the condition of their mouth, maintain the health of their mouth, and evaluate all aspects of their mouth,” Jackie says. Years of experience have fine-tuned Jackie’s skills and she can spot periodontal disease, gum recession, and problem teeth as accurately as any dentist.
“We strive to help everyone and to make every patient feel comfortable and relaxed,” says Jackie. Even non-invasive procedures like a general teeth cleaning and dental exam, can create stress for the most anxious dental patients. But when someone like Jackie is nearby to provide comfort, distraction, and information, patients realize that they’re in the right place.
Jackie praises the fine skills of her employers, Drs. Patel and Smith, saying, “They go to great depths to help patients understand the condition of their mouth. They are friendly and understanding of all situations.” Even if you think your teeth are beyond repair, or that your Johns Creek dentist has never seen a case like yours, think again. You’re unique, but your dental repairs are not – and Jackie and her colleagues are prepared to help every patient achieve the smile of their dreams.
Jackie earned bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from Augusta University where she was a Hinman scholar and member of Sigma Phi Alpha, the National Dental Hygiene Honor Society. She currently lives in Lawrenceville and enjoys traveling, music, and family time.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Rachel has been a registered dental hygienist at Family & Cosmetic Dental Care since 2018. She cleans patients’ teeth and gums and educates them on their oral health, offering advice about everything from proper flossing techniques to the best type of toothpaste to use.
“I love helping patients in any way possible, whether that means easing their nerves, helping them achieve a beautiful smile, or making them feel healthy again,” Rachel says. So many people avoid visiting the dentist because they are ashamed of the state of their oral health. “We strive to make each patient feel important and and understood and never let them feel embarrassed about their mouths,” Rachel says.
Keeping teeth healthy contributes to a healthy body, and Rachel proudly conveys this information to her patients while keeping the atmosphere light, fun, and relaxing. She has wisdom to share while also embracing opportunities to expand her skill set. “I enjoy working with Dr. Patel and Dr. Smith because I am always learning from them. They go to great lengths to make each patient understand the condition of their mouth and how we can help them.”

Going to the dentist is a challenge for some patients, but dental assistant Kristen makes it her responsibility to ensure that every patient feels welcome and comfortable at Family & Cosmetic Dental Care. Working along side Drs. Patel and Smith, Kristen dutifully carries out tasks such as prepping the treatment area, sterilizing instruments, and having each instrument at the ready for the dentists during procedures.
Kristen considers a positive relationship between dental assistant and patient to be essential. The person who helps a patient get through the treatment or procedure which they are undergoing will be the strongest memory the patient has of their time at the dentist. “I really enjoy interacting with our patients, and I love when they leave our office happy and with a healthier mouth,” Kristen says.
Continually learning on the job, Kristen finds the fun in working with Drs. Patel and Smith. “They continue to teach me new things every day. At Family & Cosmetic Dental Care, we are friendly, fun, and care about patients’ needs,” she says.
