Alysha

Alysha
Dental Assistant

During your appointment at Family & Cosmetic Dental Care, you may be fortunate enough to have dental assistant Alysha by your side. She has been with Family & Cosmetic Dental Care since 2015 and has worked in dental offices for several years. This work experience has made Alysha an incredibly valuable member of the My Johns Creek Dentist team.

Dental assistants keep dental practices running smoothly and perform some of the most important jobs that keep patients comfortable and calm, from handing the dentist instruments during procedures to keeping patients’ mouths dry to helping ease patients’ dental anxiety. “We treat our patients like family and have the best team working together to help with your dental needs,” says Alysha.

Excellent customer service is at the top of Alysha’s to-do list with every patient. “From the moment you walk through the door until the moment you leave, we stay with our patients every step of the way,” she says. Focused on her duties but always eager to learn new things, Alysha carefully assists the dentists in their meticulous work.

Alysha also considers it a privilege to touch each patient’s life in some way. “I love helping others have the smile they always hoped for and deserve. Being able to boost someone’s self-esteem and confidence is what I love,” she says.

Alysha has a B.S. in biology from Georgia Gwinnett College. She currently lives in Lawrenceville. When not planning her next adventure, Alysha can be found spending time with family and friends, paddle boarding, or watching movies.

Chastity

Chastity Watson
Front Desk Receptionist

The impression that a dental office makes on a patient begins with the person who greets you. At Family & Cosmetic Dental Care, front desk receptionist Chastity Watson is the first face you will see. And, appropriately, she greets each patient with a smile.

Chastity wears many hats in her role, answering and directing phone calls, completing paperwork, and tending to office duties. Before joining the My Johns Creek Dentist practice, Chastity worked in patient advocacy, discovering how passionately she feels about this kind of work. She brought these skills to her current position, and relishes the opportunity to interact with dental patients in her daily work. Whether connecting with people by phone or face-to-face, Chastity says, “I am there as a friend and love getting to know each patient individually as I grow with Family & Cosmetic Dental Care.”

Inspired by the environment in which she spends her days, Chastity is grateful to work with such caring dentists as Dr. Patel and Dr. Smith. “They make each day exciting to come into work,” she says, and that is no surprise, as the goal at Family & Cosmetic Dental Care is to find an answer to everyone’s questions and tend to total health and wellness, not only teeth.

A graduate of North Henderson High in Hendersonville, NC, Chastity pursued classes toward earning her business associate’s degree before moving to Duluth, Georgia, with her husband and sweet lab, Allie. A fan of summer and family time, Chastity is always up for a conversation about health and nutrition. She also works by the motto: “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”

Taylor

Taylor Alkire
Scheduler

Taylor Alkire is the office scheduler at Family & Cosmetic Dental Care. Her interactions with patients, whether by phone or in person, include presenting hygiene treatment plans, scheduling appointments, making reminder calls, and checking patients out after their appointments are complete.

While she revels in the role of helping patients pursue the good oral health care they need and deserve, Taylor is also aware of how lucky she is in her own position. “Dr. Patel and Dr. Smith treat all their employees and patients like family,” says Taylor. “I love the fact that we get the opportunity to help so many people each day.”

Creating a powerful and motivated team is another reason this Johns Creek dentist excels. Taylor loves her coworkers and a dental practice is only as successful as its satisfied front office. “I work with a great group of people who make working here a lot of fun,” says Taylor.

Family & Cosmetic Dental Care is an equal-opportunity dental practice, offering the same level of care to every patient who walks through the doors. “We want everyone to have a great experience and get the help they need,” Taylor says. And your Johns Creek dentist, as well as Taylor and staff, are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that patients leave the office feeling knowledgeable and well on their way to a stunning smile makeover.

Taylor is currently a resident of Dacula, Georgia, where she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She earned a degree in early childhood education, an absolute asset in a practice that caters to children as well as adults.

Megan Izutani
Registered Dental Hygienist

A dental hygienist for Family & Cosmetic Dental Care, Megan Izutani has worked in the dental field since 2005. She began her career as a dental assistant and worked her way up to the position of dental hygienist, giving her the opportunity to interact with and treat patients in a more hands-on way.

Megan wholly embraces Family & Cosmetic Dental Care’s goal to educate patients about the importance of their oral health, and takes her roles as patient educator and dental professional seriously. With each patient interaction, Megan discusses or demonstrates ways to naturally keep teeth and gums healthy. “I absolutely love what I do. It is my passion to educate and help every patient live the best and most healthy life they can. Your mouth must be healthy for your body to be healthy,” Megan says.

This Johns Creek dental office is, in fact, all about education. “You will walk out of our office with the knowledge you need to make an informed decision,” says Megan, whether you’re considering cosmetic dentistry procedures, restorative dentistry treatments, or adult orthodontics. You will also experience the family-like atmosphere that Family & Cosmetic Dental Carestrives to create, and Megan is proud to be part of such a supportive environment. “There is a family connection between employees and patients alike. This is an office that cares about you and we treat everyone as family,” she says.

Megan earned her associate degree from Georgia Perimeter College. She currently resides in Cumming, Georgia, with her husband and two children. In her spare time, Megan can be found sharing ways for families to improve their health with natural products and essential oils.

Elizabeth Douglas
Junior Office Manager

As the junior office manager, Elizabeth Douglas handles the ongoing needs of Family & Cosmetic Dental Care, while also creating treatment plans and consulting with patients. Elizabeth’s experience in customer service prepared her for one of the most important aspects of her position: interacting with clients throughout their time in our dental office. From greeting patients to carrying on casual conversations, Elizabeth is one of the first and last people Family & Cosmetic Dental Care dental patients see. And she knows how important that role is.

“I love seeing patients every day and being able to help them and make a difference in their lives,” Elizabeth says. “It is a great feeling when a patient is out of pain and happy with their experience.” What helps Johns Creek dental patients find comfort with their new and repaired smiles are the dental professionals around them. “We truly love what we do. We are here to help you have healthy teeth and gums for the rest of your life,” Elizabeth says.

Elizabeth herself benefits from her position, finding great happiness in the working environment that Dr. Patel and Dr. Smith have created. While the goal is always to help patients to achieve complete oral health, this Johns Creek dental office is also a fun place to be.

Elizabeth has a master’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis on sports nutrition, and a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and food science, both from Georgia South University. She resides in Buford, Georgia, where you can find her cooking, baking, crafting, or gardening.

Kristen
Dental Assistant

Going to the dentist is a challenge for some patients, but dental assistant Kristen makes it her responsibility to ensure that every patient feels welcome and comfortable at Family & Cosmetic Dental Care. Working along side Drs. Patel and Smith, Kristen dutifully carries out tasks such as prepping the treatment area, sterilizing instruments, and having each instrument at the ready for the dentists during procedures.

Kristen considers a positive relationship between dental assistant and patient to be essential. The person who helps a patient get through the treatment or procedure which they are undergoing will be the strongest memory the patient has of their time at the dentist. “I really enjoy interacting with our patients, and I love when they leave our office happy and with a healthier mouth,” Kristen says.

Continually learning on the job, Kristen finds the fun in working with Drs. Patel and Smith. “They continue to teach me new things every day. At Family & Cosmetic Dental Care, we are friendly, fun, and care about patients’ needs,” she says.

Kristen is a graduate of the Gwinnett Dental Career Academy. She currently resides in Johns Creek and loves to hang out with her son, family, and friends.

Megan Mundy
Insurance Coordinator

Megan Mundy is the insurance coordinator for Family & Cosmetic Dental Care. In her position, she verifies patients’ insurance benefits, sends claims, and handles outstanding claims. In other words, Megan makes sure that patients with dental insurance receive the benefits they are entitled to and ensures that our Johns Creek dental office manages their treatment appropriately for their insurance and budget.

After several years of working in the medical field, Megan has found Family & Cosmetic Dental Care a natural fit. Multitasking and moving quickly is now a natural part of her work ethic, and these attributes allow Megan to be efficient and accurate in all that she does behind the scenes. Whenever patients have questions about their dental insurance policy, Megan is the person to find.

When Megan herself has questions, she turns to Dr. Patel and Dr. Smith. “They are both very helpful and if I need them to do something it is done quickly,” she says – a testament to the positive and familial atmosphere of this Johns Creek dental office.

Even though Megan is busy with back office duties, she is fully aware of the purpose of the business in which she works and is delighted to learn new things every day. “We care about patients’ teeth and gum health,” she says. “We want patients to feel good about their smile.”

Megan is a graduate of the University of North Georgia, with a bachelor’s degree in communications. She resides in Cummings, Georgia, where she loves to spend time with her family.

Jackie Bascino
Registered Dental Hygienist

“We have your best interests at heart,” says Jackie Bascino, registered dental hygienist for Family & Cosmetic Dental Care in Johns Creek. This positive attitude about oral health should make any patient feel at ease when they visit our practice for a teeth cleaning and are under Jackie’s meticulous care.

Dental hygienists play a critical role in a dental office. “I help patients understand the condition of their mouth, maintain the health of their mouth, and evaluate all aspects of their mouth,” Jackie says. Years of experience have fine-tuned Jackie’s skills and she can spot periodontal disease, gum recession, and problem teeth as accurately as any dentist.

“We strive to help everyone and to make every patient feel comfortable and relaxed,” says Jackie. Even non-invasive procedures like a general teeth cleaning and dental exam, can create stress for the most anxious dental patients. But when someone like Jackie is nearby to provide comfort, distraction, and information, patients realize that they’re in the right place.

Jackie praises the fine skills of her employers, Drs. Patel and Smith, saying, “They go to great depths to help patients understand the condition of their mouth. They are friendly and understanding of all situations.” Even if you think your teeth are beyond repair, or that your Johns Creek dentist has never seen a case like yours, think again. You’re unique, but your dental repairs are not – and Jackie and her colleagues are prepared to help every patient achieve the smile of their dreams.

Jackie earned bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from Augusta University where she was a Hinman scholar and member of Sigma Phi Alpha, the National Dental Hygiene Honor Society. She currently lives in Lawrenceville and enjoys traveling, music, and family time.
